Diabetes Test – Glucose Sugar Tests
We offer a variety of different blood sugar tests, depending on patients’ specific concerns and risk factors for diseases such as diabetes. Depending on the test, results can either be discussed during the same GP consultation, or as a follow-up by phone, email or if necessary in person.

Blood Glucose Finger Prick (Omnitest)
£5.00* – Results Immediately
A simple, quick glucose level test for anyone interested in knowing their one-off blood sugar level. As the test name suggests, a small drop of blood is taken from a finger prick, which is the sample required by the Omnimetre – the same method for bloog glucose monitoring used by many diabetics. The results this test can be discussed straight away with the GP, during the consultation.
This test measures:
- Glucose
Random Blood Glucose Test (RBG)
£32.80* – 4-6 Hours
The RBG test, also known as capillary blood glucose test, is similar to the Omnitest. It measures the level of glucose in your blood at any point in time. These results are then compared to reference ranges, to indicate whether your glucose level is normal or abnormal.
The Random Blood Glucose Test measures:

Diabetic Profile 1 (DIAB)
£72* – 8 Hours
This tests is slightly more thorough, testing for both Glucose level and Glycosylated (Glycated) Hemoglobin. As well as accurately measuring patients’ blood glucose level at the time of the appointment, this test also gives a better idea of more long-term glucose levels, which can give a better overall impression of diabetes risk factor.
The Diabetic Profile 1 test measures:
- Glucose
- Glycosylated Haemoglobin (HbA1C)
Diabetic Profile 2
£140.80* – 2 Days
This is our most thorough sugar blood test, testing for not only glucose and glycosylated hemoglobin, but also for a specific blood protein called microalbumin. This not only gives an idea of a patients’ current and long-term blood sugar level, diabetes risk, but also if there is any damage to the kidneys as a potential result of any high/ fluctuating glucose levels.
The Diabetic Profile 2 test measures:
- Glucose
- Glycosylated Haemoglobin (HbA1c)
- Microalbumin
And remember, all tests are in addition to the consultation fee from £89, the most affordable price for a Private GP in London.
